UK FMCG: Supporting ‘At Risk’ Individuals

Supporting Resilience

Workload pressures, rapid and regular change and a lack of certainty are observable features of the modern workplace, even before the pandemic. The impact that these factors have on individual employees is much less easy to see. This was troubling a stretched MOH department that we work with, as they know people in distress are often reluctant to seek help. They needed a way to confidentially connect those struggling with their mental health to qualified help and support available to them. We customised one of our low-cost tools and developed a bespoke personal profile that helps the employee reflect on how they are feeling and directs them to the help their scores suggest would be most beneficial.

Getting people the help they need but still maintaining confidentiality is a challenge for most Occupational Health teams. They want people to seek help, but a person with poor wellbeing is not always happy to do that – particularly if they feel that the source of their stress or unhappiness is rooted in their job or the team of people they work with. The solution we delivered for this team gave the OH department a way to connect people in an informed yet ‘light touch’ way. Originally aimed at individuals as a Personal Resilience initiative, the approach has since been extended to teams via a Team Resilience programme.
